At least once a week I see a post like this : "OMG, I don't have a donor, substitutes don't work for me, and i'm too shy to find a donor! How can I get blood?!" If you eliminate all possibilities, how can you seriously ask that question? Do you expect us to magically make blood appear? Do you think we have an overnight blood delivery service? Of course not. Instead, here are a few more realistic bits of advice for those of you in this predicament.
1. Keep Looking : I know finding a donor is tough, but you have to keep looking. Donors don't just come up and knock on the door. Being shy is something you will just have to get over if you are serious about finding a donor. Please refer to the many donor articles, including this one.
2. Don't Give Up : Keep experimenting with different substitutes. If vampirism drains your energy, then the logical thing to do would be to keep your energy level up. Try a variety of foods & drink. And my own personal advice : Don't limit yourself to only rare steak.
3. Stay Healthy : Do I really need to elaborate on this one? I am a strong believer that the healthier you are, the less severe your need for blood will be. Or, at lest, less frequent.
4. Distract Yourself : Read a book, take a walk, call someone, watch a movie. Do something to keep occupied. Stay away from the vampire boards for a while. Many of us believe psychological factors play a role in the need for blood. Sitting alone, and/or meditating for a while will help to relieve the mental stress vampirism puts on us.
5. Listen : Last but not least, listen to the advice that your fellow vamps give you. We are all in this together, and most of us just want to help. There are too many people who ask for advice, and then try to discredit any and all advice given. This attitude will only hurt you in the long run. It may not help you right now, but the day will come when it will be very useful.
"Getting blood" is by no means an easy task. However, we sometimes make it harder than it has to be. The view expressed in this article are the opinions of the author, and do not reflect this community as a whole.
